"The best teacher or parent is not the one who fills the student's mind with the largest amount of factual data in a minimum of time, or who develops some manual skill almost to the point of uncanniness, but rather the one who kindles an innner fire, arouses moral enthusiasm, inspires the student with a vision of what s/he may become, and reveals the worth and permanency of moral and spiritual and cultural values."
-Harold Garnet Black
I love to read. The way I read has changed over the years. When I was younger, I would start a book, read it right through, then start another. Somehow, (since I've had kids?) this has changed, and at any given time, I'm probably in the midst of five or more books! Maybe it's because most of the books I read now are for information ...and I can only take in so much on a topic at a time.
If you have a favorite book and think I would enjoy it, please let me know.
I'm also working on a page of books that I've read to my kids. One of our favorite pasttimes is reading good books outloud. We have read hundreds...most of them we enjoyed, but that's because I do some research before picking books to read to my kids. I rarely just choose a book off the shelf at the library.
